Temirlan is an architectural historian and researcher specialising in the conservation and management of 20th-century built heritage. Originally from Kazakhstan, his academic and professional trajectory spans the USA, Cyprus, Australia, Italy, and the Netherlands. This expansive international background equips him with a deeply comparative perspective on global architectural conservation. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Architecture from Politecnico di Torino, where he also served as a research fellow and assistant.
Currently, Temirlan is a doctoral researcher at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) within the Chair of Recent Building Heritage. His dissertation critically examines the legislative frameworks and cultural approaches to the Soviet built legacy in post-independence Kazakhstan.
